Common Nintendo Switch OLED Faults We See

• OLED screen faults Cracked glass, dead pixels, or discolouration — OLED panels can also show burn-in after long-term use, which behaves differently to a standard LCD fault and needs diagnosing accordingly.
• Joy-Con drift The OLED model uses the same Joy-Cons and the same drift-prone stick technology as the original — the screen changed, the stick didn’t.
• Charging port failure Same wear pattern as the rest of the family — weakened solder joints from repeated plugging, which can damage the power chip if left unrepaired.
• Kickstand issues The wider kickstand is sturdier than the original’s, but the hinge mechanism can still work loose or crack under enough repeated pressure.
• No signal when docked With the new LAN-equipped dock, faults can sit in the dock’s HDMI/LAN board or the console’s own HDMI output — worth checking both when diagnosing.
• Game card reader faults Bent pins from a forced cartridge, same as other models — shares its module with the headphone jack.
• Dead console / no power Worth a full diagnostic rather than an assumption — cable, brick, and stuck power states are all more common than a genuinely dead board.

Why this one needs a specialist: Because the controls are built into the Lite rather than detachable, a lot of the fixes that are straightforward on a standard Switch (swap the Joy-Con) become board-level jobs here. That’s exactly the kind of work we do as standard.
