Which PS5 Slim models does this page cover?
This page covers the PS5 Slim CFI-2000 model group.
Check your console’s model number for a number beginning with:
- CFI-20
This model group is different from the original full-size PS5 family, which includes the CFI-1000, CFI-1100 and CFI-1200 revisions. Sony identifies the CFI-2000 model group as the Slim PS5.
How do I identify a PS5 Slim?
You can identify a PS5 Slim by its model number and physical design.
Look for:
- A model number beginning CFI-20
- Four separate white cover panels
- A black split running through the console
- A smaller chassis than the original PS5
- Two USB-C ports on the front
Sony redesigned the PS5 Slim with four separate cover panels, reduced the overall console volume by more than 30% compared with the previous models and increased storage to 1TB.
PS5 Slim Disc Edition and Digital Edition
The PS5 Slim is available as a Disc Edition or Digital Edition.
PS5 Slim Disc Edition
The Disc Edition is supplied with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
PS5 Slim Digital Edition
The Digital Edition does not have a disc drive installed as standard but is designed to support Sony’s compatible detachable Disc Drive.
The detachable drive requires an internet connection to pair it with the console during setup.
Common PS5 Slim CFI-2000 repairs
We diagnose and repair faults including:
- Damaged HDMI ports
- PS5 Slim HDMI repair
- No signal or black screen faults
- Bent or damaged HDMI pins
- No power faults
- Intermittent power problems
- Overheating
- Unexpected shutdowns
- Cooling and fan faults
- Damaged front USB-C ports
- Disc drive faults
- Damaged console covers or casing
- Damage caused by drops or impacts
- Motherboard and component-level faults
PS5 Slim HDMI repair
A damaged HDMI port is one of the most common reasons a PS5 Slim may power on without displaying an image.
Possible symptoms include:
- No signal
- Black screen
- HDMI cable not fitting securely
- Damaged HDMI pins
- Display cutting out
- Visible physical damage to the port
We diagnose whether the fault is the HDMI connector itself or another problem within the console’s display circuit.
PS5 Slim USB-C port repair
Unlike the original PS5 model group, the PS5 Slim has two USB Type-C ports on the front.
These ports can be damaged through physical force, accidental cable damage or repeated strain on the connector.
If your PS5 Slim USB-C port is loose, physically damaged or no longer charging or connecting correctly, we can diagnose the fault and determine the appropriate repair.
PS5 Slim disc drive repairs
PS5 Slim disc drive problems can include:
- Discs not reading
- The drive making unusual noises
- The console not recognising discs
- Physical damage to the drive
- Disc drive connection faults
- Problems after a disc drive replacement
Because the PS5 Slim uses a removable drive system, the exact model and drive setup should be checked before repair or replacement.

How long does a repair usually take?
Most repairs are turned around within a few days of us receiving the console, though it depends on the fault and whether parts need ordering in. We’ll always give you a realistic timeframe once we’ve had a proper look.
My HDMI port doesn’t work / there’s no picture — can it be fixed?
Yes — HDMI port replacement is one of the most common repairs I do. If your PS5 powers on (fan running, light on) but you’re getting no picture, it’s very likely the HDMI port itself rather than anything more serious.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Board-level and electrical repairs come with a 12-month warranty. Wear-and-tear on any parts such as bent HDMI pins or bent port housing will invalidate the wattanty as this can only be caused by accidental damage or misuse.
Why does my PS5 keep overheating or shutting itself down?
Usually the factoryliquid metal has dried out, especially on consoles that have had a few years of regular use. A proper reapplication (and a clean-out of built-up dust) sorts most of these.
Can you fix a loud or failing fan?
es — sometimes it just needs a proper clean and re-lubrication, other times the fan itself needs replacing. Either way it’s a straightforward job.
I operate out of Mend My iPhone, 9 Southgate, Market Weighton, YO43 3AF, and cover Hull, Beverley, Brough, Goole, Driffield and the wider East Yorkshire area with drop-off, callout and postal repair options.
