Customer Ripped of PS5 fan connector accidentally
This is very common for us to have to repair. It is very easy to rip the fan conncetor off the PS5 board whilst removing it for cleaning. There is an art to removing it which I’ll explain after I’ve told you about this repair.
PS5 fan connector ripped off ?
Our customer’s PS5 was overheating so he decided to take it apart and clean the fluff and debris out of his console himself. He accidentally pulled too hard and ripped the entire fan connector off the board. Ripping the board itself in the process. His console then shut down all the time during gameplay cos it couldn’t cool itself.

PS5 fan connector rebuild
Because of the level of damage we had to rebuild the copper traces on the board that the 3 legs sit on. And in one area we had to connect a via to a capacitor using a copper sire to make sure this was fully connected

After we’d made sure there was enough connected copper groundplane and it was reading the correct diode values we knew it was going to work so we securely anchored the sides to the motherboard and then joined the pins to the copper – we then checked diode readings again to the internal connectors to make sure they wer accurate, we then tested and booted the console.

How do I take a PS5 fan connector out ?
These fan connectors are really easy to rip off. The are to taking them off is to grab the wire right at the base closest to the actual connection point and then wiggle and pull slightly and then wiggle and pull a bit more, if you keep doing this it will gently work it’s way out. Using this method there is no actual connection to the fan connector itself and the force is on the wires.
If you are gently but persuasive with it the PS5 fan connector wil work it’s was loose easily. Every time
However if you do manage to rip it off we can repair it. We charge 95, but that includes a full clean and service and liquid metal renewal.
